Inevitable
They were all ready to say goodbye. They had even started mourning while she was still hanging around. Even if it was only by the flimsiest of threads. They were used to surprise deaths – an accident here, a stroke there. This waiting for death was something new. And it was beginning to take its toll on their patience.
The family wished she would hurry up. But the old matriarch was no pushover. After all those years when she had put her life on hold until they were all done eating, studying, marrying, having children, falling ill and dying, it was her turn now. And she was not going to be rushed.

Were you? Cited by Sujatha??? Ammani - WOW! :)
And here goes the repetitive bit - nice story! :)
sad but true...
me likey! :)

hello Ammani,
Bought vikatan yday. scanned thru the ENTIRE vikatan & sujatha's kp column the whole sunday (@ work, hehehhe) but couldnt find QT #16. was wondering "innabaa idu, taedinnalum kedaikkalaye"?
Monday morning - was rushing to office, with a cup of tea in hand, scanned thru AV once again to see "engappa pocchu" . My maramandai saw the 'special box' in the KP column which had QT#16 in the 'enakku piditha kavidhai' section.
Congratulations, Ammani! will send you a copy sometime
Totally true. Funny that you should write this on the very same day that I sat back and ran through the same subject. Someone I knew died on Monday and some of her relatives had done just what you wrote.
This is what life comes to at some point...they also die who stand and wait.
Congrats on the Sujatha mention :-)
Love ya!

You are doing a great job; keep it up!
I just got to read your blog today. It was "PUNCH PACKED - NO NONSENSE STUFF". I like the way you highlight the the facts of reality.
Ammani, you look like you're going great guns with all this "pithy" stuff. Looks like you can come out with a book on them.
:-)
Truth of life!
I had experienced similar situation, when my grand parents were ill. My GF suffered too much due to illness and dragged on for long. After his demise, my GM left without any notice..No suffering, but all of a sudden. That's fate.
gettign mentioned by my favourite author sujatha.YOu are blessed and blessed with talents.
