A quick tale 10

Baggage

They weighed the luggage one more time. '39.5 kgs' read the scales. "Perfect", said the husband. It was just under the 40 kilo-luggage-weight limit imposed by the airlines. "Have you taken everything? Is there anything left behind?", asked the mother-in-law.

So many thing, she wanted to say. Mother, father, grandmother, sunshine, curd rice, late mornings, lazy afternoons, pointless giggles, best friends, former lovers...

"In which case", she replied,"I'll take 1/2 a kilo of sambar powder. The ones we get in the US are just not good enough."

Good one , Ammani!
Would have been very 'Tamizh serial/cinema perfect d-i-l' had you added the 'in-laws' bit.

Lets leave the in-laws bit for the cinema dialogues, what say?

Visitied ur blog about 10 days back or so…read some of your archives..you write really well…

When I read all these tales of urs…I had an inkling feeling that its x% reality and y% fiction….you proved my theory right with this post…

US has only 32 kg checked in baggage limit…;-)

But don’t worry abt facts…you blog is really good!

'in-laws' amongst the things you would wish to take with u... surely you must be joking...
to say that you miss the point is an understatement..

Being a veteran visitor to your blog, I have to really know if you are as homesick as I think you are..or is it just a perspective of how it was or could be for a person of similar background ?

Isn't it paruppu podi in ur case?! ;)

Praveen, yaendaa verupethuraa. To add to me missing the paruppu podi, looking at all those recipes and photos on Ammani's Chaipani blog is making me more homesick. Well apart from the Burnt sambar picture :)
