“I was just about to call you”, he’d say whenever she rang. Even if he hadn’t called in days. And she’d have been sleeping next to the phone. Just in case.

and check often to make sure the phone is still working, cut coversations short with friends just in case he rings at that time and he gets a busy tone :) oh so many ridiculous things!
