Is this a tale?

Perhaps a new series
- a

In my bag. Two ball-point pens. A greeting card with no message written on it. Instructions for an mp3 player. Four CDs. Bills from lunch time. Parking permit to the gym. A notepad with phone numbers but no names. A slew of business cards. Hairbrush. A jingle of keys. Anti-histamine tablets. Lipstick past its expiry date. Two chewing gums. Train ticket from last Saturday. Sanitary napkin. And a mobile phone. With a missed call. From you.

  1. Credit cards, gift cards, cash in dollars and rupees - all inside a bag that begs to be carried but is always hiding and hence gets left behind.

  4. Backpack with umbrella, economist, businessweek, the May 28 New yorker with a Tintin article in it by Anthony Lane.

Wallet- other than usual - an old faded film ticket of hiroshima mon amour, my favourite film, a silver token for $2 from the hindu temple of atlanta that can be exchanged for a pongal with karumilagu someday.

  5. Somehow this post made me pause and think..and finally a veil of melancholy settles in...of those lost days ...as my bag also carries memories ..memories seldom looked into , unless reminded like this!

  10. Your post reminded me that it was about time I cleaned my bag !

Strange how nostalgic this act of cleaning can get....to find movie tickets you went to with that special someone ...restaraunt bills...train tickets...

    Ah...

  14. spare change, ten rupee notes securely tucked in a handy pouch at the back, watch, deo and rubber bands, headache balm that i recently use often,
    hordes of visiting cards:
of the luggage shoppe i got my brand new bag from, of beauticians, of jewellery shops, of a favourite restaurant inside the company i quit, of tech support personnel,
a VLCC card, passport size pics of loved ones, more pics of me, to lick and paste on the countless forms in the company i've newly joined, the pic of the fiance conspicuous by its absense,
a phone book in case i lose my mobile,
my mobile, with a SIM from him, and with hordes of sms'es:
some which betrayed me when we fought... and he showed them around..( cant i say i like farts? well, that is socially inept... )
some from friends praying i go through this difficult phase well...
the phone number of the fiance recently erased, just so i dont *accidentally* send him another sms..
a bulky ladies purse, which has, among other things, the slip of paper i prepared my questionnaire on, and which did not help me judge him at all :(
    **** it.
